Insuring a pleasure craft, or handling a claim involving one, requires certainty about its documentary position. Agenzia Magnum supports insurance companies, agencies and insurance brokers with the checks and administrative procedures for insured vessels.

Before cover starts

• checking the vessel's documents: navigation licence, safety certificate, conformity and engine documents;
• searches and certificates from the ATCN (Archivio telematico centrale delle unità da diporto, the Italian central electronic register of pleasure craft): ownership, operator, recorded deeds, mortgages and entries;
• arranging condition and valuation surveys with qualified marine surveyors, wherever the vessel is in Italy.

Claims handling

• gathering and organising the documents needed to settle the claim;
• in the event of theft, recording loss of possession of the vessel on the basis of the police report, and later recording any recovery;
• coordinating damage surveys with the appointed surveyors;
• duplicates of ship's papers lost in the incident.

Total loss and deregistration

The Italian Pleasure Boating Code (Codice della nautica da diporto) also provides for deregistration of vessels following actual or presumed loss and demolition. We handle the deregistration procedure, including the application for demolition clearance (nulla osta alla demolizione) where needed, and the transfer of ownership of the vessel or wreck when it passes to the insurer. The procedures are carried out through the central electronic system for pleasure boating (Sistema telematico centrale della nautica da diporto).
