Before buying a used boat or yacht, it is essential to know exactly what you are buying. A pre-purchase survey reveals the true condition of the vessel, identifies defects not visible at first inspection and gives you solid grounds to negotiate the price or walk away.

Agenzia Magnum arranges the survey with qualified marine surveyors and, at the same time, carries out the document checks that are part of our day-to-day work on nautical paperwork.

The technical inspection

• Inspection of the hull and underwater hull out of the water, checking for any signs of osmosis, moisture, delamination or impact damage
• Inspection of the deck, equipment, and electrical, plumbing and gas systems
• Inspection of the engines, if necessary with the help of a specialist marine engineer
• Sea trial, where possible, to assess how the vessel and its systems perform

The document checks

• That the seller matches the owner shown in the registers
• Any mortgages, leases or other encumbrances registered against the vessel
• Declaration of conformity and CE marking, engine power certificates
• For vessels from abroad: flag, deletion from the foreign register, and customs and VAT status
