Transporting your own goods: you need a licence from the Hauliers' Register!
Own-account transport (conto proprio):
Anyone who buys a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight solely to transport goods connected with their own business (which must not be transport for payment) needs a licence to register the vehicle and use it on the road.
To apply for this licence you need:
- A copy of the tax return (Modello Unico).
- A Chamber of Commerce company extract (visura).
- A copy of the legal representative's identity document.
- A self-declaration signed by the legal representative.
- Documents for the vehicle purchased:
- New vehicles: certificates of conformity and, where the vehicle has been fitted out, approval certificates.
- Used vehicles: certificate of ownership and registration certificate (Carta di Circolazione).
- Information required:
- INPS (national social security institute) and INAIL (national workplace accident insurance institute) registration numbers.
- Turnover, total operating costs and the amount invoiced by transport companies for moving your goods (these figures must match those in the latest tax return filed).
- A copy of the driving licence of the person who will drive the vehicle (if the legal representative is also the designated driver, a copy of their valid licence is enough).
- For leased vehicles, a copy of the lease agreement and the documents provided by the leasing company.
- If you already hold an own-account (C/P) transport licence, a copy of it so that we can retrieve your position on the Hauliers' Register.
