Driving Licence Conversion

Our agency handles the conversion of driving licences issued by other countries into Italian licences, taking care of every step at the Motor Vehicle Office (Motorizzazione Civile, now the Dipartimento Trasporti Terrestri).

If you have become resident in Italy, your foreign licence must be converted for you to keep driving:

• Licences issued by European Union countries: remain valid in Italy, and conversion is optional.
• Licences issued by non-EU countries: are valid for driving in Italy only for one year after you become resident, and can be converted only if Italy has a reciprocity agreement with the issuing country.

You can also take the medical examination required for the conversion at our office: examinations take place every Tuesday and are carried out by Dr Lorenzo Tucci.

We also handle driving licence reclassification (downgrading to a lower category).
